Bassetlaw Liberal Democrats Learn more

The closure of overnight Paediatric Care at Bassetlaw Hospital is deeply worrying for many parents across our District.
I can remember taking my own children into A3 when needed. Knowing that we were just a few minutes from home and from friends and my wife & I could share spending time at my children’s bedside, made that worrying & stressful time easier to cope with.
Coming after the suspension of Emergency Surgical Admissions last year, this is a very worrying development and further degradation of the service being offered at our local Hospital.
I am not one to start jumping up & down before I have all the facts so I have written to Mike Pinkerton, the retiring CEO at the Doncaster & Bassetlaw NHS Trust, to get more details on what lies behind this decision and what the Trust tis doing to deal with the issues, which seem to be more about staffing than funding. (see the Trust’s Press Release – Changes to Bassetlaw Hospital’s Paediatric Ward). When I hear back, I will of course let people know through this website what he has to say.
I want to assure all the residents of Bassetlaw that we in the Liberal Democrats will be doing all we can to make sure Bassetlaw Hospital continues to offer a wide range of services to the people of our area.
